Traditional Moroccan body cleansing with a floral touch

The heart of the hammam. A little lavender in the ritual.

Rich, smooth and unmistakably Moroccan, Beldi soap is where the hammam begins. This lavender version brings a floral dimension to the familiar olive-based cleansing paste, turning an everyday wash into a moment worth slowing down for.

Spread a thin layer over warm, wet body skin, rinse thoroughly and follow with gentle Kees exfoliation if your skin feels comfortable.

Warm water. A soft paste. Your moment to unwind.

Moroccan Beldi Soap · With Lavender · Olive-Based · Rinse-Off Body Cleanser · 100g

What is it?

Beldi Black Soap with Lavender is a soft, olive-based Moroccan soap paste for body cleansing.

Unlike a solid soap bar, it spreads easily over wet skin. Unlike a grainy body scrub, its role is cleansing rather than abrasive exfoliation.

In the traditional Moroccan hammam sequence, Beldi comes before the Kees glove—with a thorough rinse between the two.

Beldi cleanses. The Kees exfoliates. Lavender gives this version its floral character.

What is it made of?

An olive-based Beldi soap with lavender.

The soap base is made through saponification: the process that transforms oils into cleansing ingredients. An olive-based soap therefore behaves differently from pure olive oil applied directly to skin.

For the complete ingredient list, including the form of lavender used and any fragrance allergens, check your product packaging.

Why make it part of your ritual?

  • Wash away everyday dirt and surface oil: a cleansing step for your body.

  • Enjoy the traditional Beldi texture: a smooth paste that spreads without coarse scrub grains.

  • Bring a floral touch to your hammam: choose lavender when you want a different sensory experience from Original Beldi.

  • Keep exfoliation optional: use the soap alone or pair it with a Kees when your skin welcomes it.

  • Make space for a slower moment: a simple ritual you can enjoy in your own bathroom.

The goal is clean, comfortable skin. You do not need a tight or stripped feeling to know you have cleansed.

What does lavender add?

Lavender gives this version its distinctive botanical character within the Beldi cleansing ritual.

Enjoy it as a sensory preference rather than choosing it to treat a skin condition. The presence of lavender does not establish that the finished soap treats acne, calms eczema, improves sleep or suits sensitive skin.

Choose the floral experience you enjoy—and the formula your skin tolerates.

Your at-home lavender hammam, step by step

1. Begin with comfortably warm water

Wet your body thoroughly and take a few moments to settle into the ritual.

A warm shower is enough. Intense steam and very hot water are unnecessary.

2. Apply a thin layer

Remove a small portion with a clean utensil. Spread over warm, wet body skin, adding a little water in your palm if needed to help it glide.

Avoid your face, eyes, intimate areas and any broken or irritated skin.

Aim for a light, even film. A thicker coating does not mean better cleansing.

3. Follow the contact time on your label

Use the application time specified on your packaging. Do not extend it to intensify the ritual.

Rinse immediately if you experience burning, stinging or itching.

4. Rinse thoroughly

Wash the soap away completely before using a Kees.

Beldi first. Rinse. Then Kees.

5. Exfoliate gently, if desired

Wet your Kees and squeeze out excess water. Use a few light, controlled strokes on damp body skin.

Avoid repeated passes over the same patch. Do not increase pressure to force visible rolls to appear.

Skip the glove if your skin feels dry, tender or sensitive.

6. Rinse and moisturize

Rinse away any loosened residue, gently pat dry and apply your usual body moisturizer.

A small amount of a body oil you already tolerate can be an optional finishing touch afterward.

Finish comfortable, freshly cleansed and ready to enjoy the rest of your day.

Can I use it without a Kees?

Yes. Beldi can be used as a rinse-off body cleanser on its own.

The Kees is its traditional exfoliating partner, but you do not need physical exfoliation every time you wash.

If you are trying this soap for the first time, use it alone before introducing the glove on another occasion. That makes it easier to notice how your skin responds.

Small tricks for a better ritual

  • Take your portion out before showering. Keep the jar away from running water and wet gloves.

  • Add water in your palm. Adjust the portion you are using rather than diluting the whole jar.

  • Rinse before exfoliating. Removing the slippery soap layer helps you control the Kees.

  • Adapt by area. Your chest and inner arms may need a lighter approach than your legs.

  • Keep aftercare familiar. A moisturizer you already trust is a useful finish after trying a new product.

  • Let comfort set the pace. More heat, more soap and more scrubbing do not automatically improve the experience.

What can I pair it with?

Product Its place in your ritual
Traditional Hammam Kees An optional physical exfoliation step after rinsing Beldi away completely.
Atlas Ghassoul Clay A separate rinse-off clay step. Save it for another day if your skin feels dry or tender after exfoliation.
Your usual body moisturizer Apply after bathing to complete your aftercare.
Pure Moroccan Argan Oil An optional finishing touch after moisturizer, if your skin already tolerates it.

Build a sequence instead of mixing everything together.
Separate steps make it easier to control application, rinse properly and understand what suits your skin.

What should I avoid adding?

This is a finished cleansing product. Use it as directed rather than trying to make it stronger.

Avoid adding:

  • Extra lavender essential oil or perfume: more fragrance can increase irritation or allergy risk.

  • Lemon juice or vinegar: do not attempt to adjust a finished soap’s pH at home.

  • Salt, sugar or coarse powders: extra abrasion is unnecessary, especially alongside a Kees.

  • Retinol, exfoliating acids or peeling solutions: keep treatment products separate and follow their own instructions.

  • Water inside the jar: dilute only the portion you are using.

How often should I use it?

There is no single schedule that suits every skin type.

Use the soap according to your label and your skin’s response. Treat Beldi-and-Kees exfoliation as an occasional ritual, allowing your skin to recover fully between sessions.

Reduce or stop use if you notice tightness, flaking, redness or discomfort.

Your skin does not need to follow a calendar when it is asking for a gentler routine.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

Not automatically. Traditional soap and lavender-containing products can still irritate, even when their ingredients are described as natural.

If you have fragrance allergies, eczema-prone skin or a very reactive skin barrier, a gentle fragrance-free, soap-free cleanser may be a better fit.

Try a small area using the rinse-off directions before wider use. Avoid the product if you have a known allergy to an ingredient on the label. A small-area test cannot guarantee that a reaction will never occur.

When should I skip the Kees?

Skip physical exfoliation on sunburned, broken, inflamed or irritated skin.

Be cautious on areas treated with retinoids, benzoyl peroxide or exfoliating products. After shaving, waxing, laser or a peel, allow skin to recover and follow your practitioner’s aftercare instructions.

Do not scrub darker patches or inflamed bumps harder. Irritation is not a route to more even-looking skin.

Your Lavender Beldi questions, answered

  • How is it different from Original Beldi? Both belong to the olive-based Moroccan Beldi cleansing tradition. This version includes lavender; Original keeps the focus on the traditional base. Choose according to your sensory preferences and ingredient tolerance.
  • Is the soap purple? Lavender does not mean the finished soap must be purple. Beldi is known for its dark, paste-like appearance. Refer to the product photographs for its appearance.
  • Does it foam like shower gel? Do not expect the same texture or lather as a conventional shower gel. A large foam is not the goal of the traditional Beldi application.
  • Is it a scrub? It is a cleansing soap paste. In the traditional pairing, the Kees provides physical exfoliation.
  • Can I use it on my face? We recommend this product for the body. Choose a cleanser suited to your facial skin and keep the body Kees away from your face.
  • Does lavender make it suitable for eczema or irritated skin? No. Lavender is not a guarantee of gentleness, and this soap is not an eczema treatment. Avoid applying it to actively irritated skin.
  • Does it treat body acne or ingrown hairs? We do not make either treatment claim. Avoid scrubbing inflamed bumps and seek appropriate care for persistent concerns.
  • Will it lighten my skin or remove pigmentation? We do not claim whitening or pigmentation treatment. Washing away surface dirt and oil is different from changing your natural skin tone or treating dark spots.
  • What if nothing rolls off with the Kees? Do not scrub harder. Visible residue varies and is not a reliable measure of cleanliness or whether the ritual has worked.
  • Can I leave it on overnight? No. This is a rinse-off soap, not a leave-on mask.
  • Can I use it as an intimate wash? No. Keep it away from genital and other mucosal areas.
  • Can I use it before a special occasion? Try the product well beforehand. An important event is not the ideal time to experiment with a new soap-and-exfoliation routine.

How should I store it?

Keep the jar tightly closed, away from direct heat and standing shower water.

Use a clean utensil to remove your portion. Avoid dipping a wet glove into the jar, adding water to the container or returning unused soap.

Follow the storage, expiry and period-after-opening information on your packaging. Keep out of reach of children.
