What is it?
Beldi Black Soap with Argan is a traditional Moroccan soft soap enriched with Argan Oil.
Also known as savon beldi or Moroccan black soap, Beldi has a paste-like consistency rather than the solid texture of a soap bar. It is traditionally applied to wet body skin before rinsing and using a Kees exfoliating glove.
This version brings Argan Oil into the cleansing step—a different application from using pure Argan Oil afterward.
Beldi cleanses. The Kees physically exfoliates. Your moisturizer completes the aftercare.
What is it made of?
An olive-based Beldi soap enriched with Moroccan Argan Oil.
Our formula is described as made from saponified olive oil, crushed black olives and added Argan Oil. Refer to your product label for the complete ingredient declaration.
What does “saponified” mean? It is the soap-making process that transforms oils into cleansing ingredients. An oil-based soap therefore behaves differently from the original oils used to make it.
The presence of Argan Oil does not make this soap equivalent to a leave-on Argan treatment or guarantee that it will suit dry or sensitive skin.
Why make it part of your ritual?
-
Cleanse your body: wash away everyday dirt and excess surface oil.
-
Explore the Argan version of Beldi: enjoy two familiar Moroccan ingredients in one product.
-
Begin your hammam sequence: use before rinsing and reaching for your Kees.
-
Choose a smooth paste: spread a thin layer without adding coarse scrub particles.
-
Make the ritual your own: use the soap alone or include gentle exfoliation when your skin is comfortable.
Choose it for its formula and your experience of it—not because added oil automatically makes a soap gentler or more moisturizing.
How to use it: your Moroccan hammam ritual
1. Begin with warm, wet skin
Wet your body with comfortably warm water. There is no need for an intensely hot shower or prolonged steam.
2. Apply a thin layer
Use a clean utensil to take out a small amount. Spread over wet body skin, adding a little water in your palm to help it glide.
Avoid your face, eyes, intimate areas and broken or irritated skin.
A thin, even film is enough. More product does not automatically improve the result.
3. Leave briefly
Follow the directions on your packaging. Our current directions recommend 5–10 minutes, according to your skin’s comfort.
Do not extend the time to seek extra nourishment. Rinse immediately if you experience itching, burning or stinging.
4. Rinse completely
Wash away the soap before using your Kees.
Beldi first. Rinse thoroughly. Then Kees.
5. Exfoliate gently, if desired
Wet your Kees and squeeze out excess water. Use light, controlled strokes on damp skin without repeatedly working the same area.
Do not press harder to force visible rolls to appear. Skip exfoliation if your skin feels tender or reactive.
6. Moisturize
Rinse again, pat dry gently and apply your usual body moisturizer.
If your skin already tolerates pure Argan Oil, a small amount afterward can be an optional finishing touch.
Do I still need moisturizer if the soap contains Argan?
Yes—keep your usual moisturizing step.
This is a rinse-off cleanser. It should not be expected to provide the lasting effects of a leave-on moisturizer.
Even if your skin feels soft immediately after bathing, pay attention to how it feels later. Persistent tightness, flaking or itching are reasons to reassess your cleansing routine.
Do I need a Kees?
No. You can use Beldi with Argan as a rinse-off body cleanser on its own.
The Kees is its traditional exfoliating partner, but exfoliation is optional. Trying the soap alone first can help you understand how your skin responds before adding another step.
Small tricks for a better ritual
- Portion before you shower. Take out what you need so the jar stays away from running water.
- Keep cleansing and exfoliation separate. Rinse the soap away before using the glove.
- Start gently. You can choose lighter pressure or leave out the Kees entirely.
- Treat different areas differently. Your chest or upper arms may be more sensitive than your legs.
- Keep your finish familiar. After trying a new cleanser, use a moisturizer you already know suits you.
- Let comfort be the goal. Clean skin does not need to feel tight, hot or scrubbed raw.
What can I pair it with?
| Product | How it fits into the ritual |
|---|---|
| Traditional Hammam Kees | Use gently after rinsing the soap away completely. |
| Atlas Ghassoul Clay | An optional, separate rinse-off step if your skin remains comfortable. Skip it if you feel dry or tender. |
| Your usual body moisturizer | Apply after bathing as your main moisturizing step. |
| Pure Moroccan Argan Oil | An optional finishing touch after moisturizer, if your skin tolerates it. |
Use products in a sequence rather than combining them in the jar. Separate steps make application and rinsing easier to control.
Should I add more Argan Oil to the soap?
There is no need. This product already contains Argan Oil.
Adding extra oil may change how the soap spreads and rinses, and does not establish better results. Keep your pure Argan Oil for a separate step instead.
What should I avoid mixing with it?
Use the finished soap as directed rather than trying to make it stronger.
Avoid adding:
-
Lemon juice or vinegar: do not try to adjust a finished soap’s pH at home.
-
Essential oils or perfume: these introduce additional irritation or allergy risks.
-
Salt, sugar or coarse powders: extra abrasion is unnecessary alongside a Kees.
-
Retinol, exfoliating acids or peeling solutions: keep treatment products separate.
-
Water inside the jar: dilute only the portion you are using.
How often should I use it?
Treat the Beldi-and-Kees combination as an occasional ritual, rather than daily exfoliation.
Your skin’s response and the other products you use matter more than a fixed schedule. You can cleanse without using the glove each time.
Reduce or stop use if your skin becomes persistently dry, red, sore or itchy.
When should I skip exfoliation?
Skip the Kees on sunburned, broken, inflamed or irritated skin. Take extra care on areas treated with retinoids, benzoyl peroxide or exfoliating products.
After shaving, waxing, laser or a peel, allow skin to recover and follow your practitioner’s aftercare instructions.
Aggressive scrubbing can irritate skin and contribute to dark marks. More pressure does not mean better cleansing.
Your Argan Beldi questions, answered
- How is it different from Original Beldi? Both follow the olive-based Moroccan Beldi cleansing tradition. This version includes added Argan Oil; Original focuses on the plain base. We do not claim that the Argan version has been clinically shown to be gentler, less drying or more effective than Original.
- Is it the same as using pure Argan Oil? No. This is a soap that you rinse away. Pure Argan Oil is a separate oil used in a different way. Research or benefits associated with leave-on Argan Oil should not automatically be applied to an Argan-containing soap.
- Is it suitable for dry skin? Added Argan Oil does not guarantee suitability. Traditional soap can still feel drying. If your skin is very dry, eczema-prone or reactive, a gentle soap-free cleanser may be a better fit. Do not rely on this soap to treat a compromised skin barrier.
- Can I use it on my face? We recommend it for the body. Choose a cleanser suited to your facial skin and keep the body Kees away from your face.
- Does it treat body acne or ingrown hairs? We do not make either treatment claim. Avoid scrubbing inflamed bumps and seek appropriate care for persistent concerns.
- Does it remove dark spots or stretch marks? We do not claim that it treats pigmentation, scars or stretch marks. Its purpose is cleansing within a Moroccan hammam ritual.
- Will it foam like shower gel? Do not expect the same lather or texture as a conventional shower gel. Beldi is traditionally spread as a thin layer; a large foam is not the aim.
- What if no visible rolls appear with my Kees? Do not scrub harder. Visible residue varies and is not a reliable measure of cleanliness or success.
- Can I leave it on overnight? No. It is a rinse-off soap, not an overnight mask.
- Can I use it on my hair? We recommend this product as a body cleanser. It has not been established as a replacement for your shampoo or conditioner.
- Can I use it as an intimate wash? No. Keep it away from genital and other mucosal areas.
- Should I test it first? Yes. Try a small area using the rinse-off directions before wider use. Avoid it if you have a known allergy to a listed ingredient. A small-area test cannot guarantee that a reaction will never occur.
How should I store it?
Keep the jar tightly closed, away from direct heat and standing shower water.
Use a clean utensil to remove your portion. Avoid dipping a wet glove into the jar, adding water or returning unused soap.
Follow the storage and expiry information on your packaging.
Complete the ritual
Warm water. A thin layer of Beldi Black Soap with Argan. A thorough rinse. Gentle Kees exfoliation if your skin welcomes it. Moisturizer to finish.
Two Moroccan staples. One moment of care.
From our rituals to yours.
